The Circle Scarf craze :)

Yes.That's me in the photo above.

The yellow scarf in the photo I purchased in Soho. It is a great accessory to keep in your wardrobe. It fits nice and snug around your neck and goes well with any piece of clothing. The material is very thick and will keep very warm during the cold weather months..

The circle scarf can be found practically anywhere, on the streets of manahttan, in the popular stores or online. They come in all styles and sizes. Below I will leave a link so you can check out the other styles on modcloth.com.

I fell in love with the mustard. I could not leave the scarf because the mustard was very eye-catching and I love the way it goes with my brown boots and black jacket.

Purchase a circle scarf and share in the joy during this cold winter in New York :)

A Girl's Treat :)

Magazines (sigh).
I love my magazines. I cannot begin to tell you the excitement I feel when a new magazine is in my mailbox. There is no feeling like flipping those pages, wanting so badly to see new styles, receive the latest gossip, news on the new beauty products. It is a great experience to me.
Anyway enough of me. Girls I know we can agree when I say magazines are 'it'. In the photo above are four of my favorites. In Lucky, I get the latest trends, In Essence I connect with my sisters, in seventeen I get the down low on all the teenage pop star's love life, their style and more and in Glamour I feast on my favorite stylista's unique style, gossip and advice on Love.

If you can relate then you know how I feel.
I recently attended an event hosted by New York Women in Communications called 'Breaking into the Magazine Business' held at the Hearst corporation. The event was great. The panel consisted of big names in the magazine business such as Ann Shoket, Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen Magazine, Associate Publisher: Nicole Mills of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Ellen Payne : Director of Editorial Operations of Hearst Magazines and more. The panel shared with us the best, real-life advice we could use as students and young professionals for getting into the magazine business. They also shared some very important skills which we would need to sharpen in the first or second job such as handwriting thank you notes, be quick to figure out how things worked in the workplace, show interest in all areas and be willing to take on any task and many more.

As students and young professionals in Communications it wise to take advantage of opportunities such as this one. New York women in Communications offers some very unique and helpful events. You should at least attend one.

p/s : If you are looking for a magazine internship google ED2010 Internships, ED offers great internships in fashion, beauty and editorial.

High Ratings for 'The Game' last Tuesday

As if we didn't suspect! According to the NyTimes, the highly anticipated show 'The Game' scored big with 7.7 millions calling it the most watched sitcom on cable television. The show premiered for another new season on January 11th at 10 pm after being dropped by CW11 two years ago. Since early 2010, BET's marketing team aired previous shows so that the show could gain more viewers, which it did and had viewers begging for more. When it was announced that BET was to pick up the show after being dropped by CW11, fans were- let's say hyped, myself included.

The show debuted with the same cast but different nevertheless, after all it has been 2 years. I witnessed millions of my facebook friends, updating their statuses, spreading the word about the drama-filled show. Those who watched it for the first time, last tuesday were nudged on by facebook statuses and tweets by others. The producers and President, Debra Lee Cock, must be happy about this. I am excited to see what this new season will.

If you haven't watched the show, check it out this tuesday, every tuesday at 10pm and catch up with past episodes on youtube or BET.com.

Get Ready for the 'it' girl's new Fragrance : REB'L FLEUR

Let's talk about Rihanna, this time in a more sweet-scented way. The Barbados-born singer will join the long list of celebrity fragrances this coming Spring. The tabloids are blowing up her now exposed ad, so I'm sure some may have heard about the fragrance before.
The name of this new fragrance is called 'Reb'l Fleur', translated as 'Rebel Flower'. According to rihannadaily.com, the fragrance is set to hit department stores such as Macy's around January 26th. Refinery29 and others talk about where she got the name Reb'l Fleur; according to refinery29 this was a childhood nickname given to her by her grandmother. The fragrance is said to be a melange of Hawaiian hibiscus flower, violet, tuberose, coconut water, vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk. Ladies you might want to give it a try, sounds like it'll smell awesome and it's expected to leave a 'sexy memory'. Support her will you?

Shoe Fetish much!

Ladies:

I had to post this just for you. It's boots season and I've been walking all around Manhattan to find the best pair. I checked Spring, Steve Madden, Aldo, David Z, practically all of Soho, but I have small feet so I had a tough time. They usually have small shoe sizes online. Anyhow I was in Herald Square and I thought 'Macy's', I didn't check Macy's. So I strolled up to the 8th floor in hopes of finding the BEST pair of boots. Well so much for that, I was greeted with prices that weren't near to what I wanted to spend. $300, $200 and more. I kept walking and walking and lo' and behold I found the pair of riding boots you see at the top of this post. I swear I heard the 'hallelujah' chorus and saw light shining straight to the shoes from over head. It was a size 5 (my size) and It was on sale. How is that!
I was in love. The moral:: keep looking for what you want, do not and I repeat do not choose the first thing that screams ' take me' to you; keep on looking. Don't you give up, it is always closer than you anticipate. They're beautiful boots!

It's A New Year, Try a new thing :)

Hey All,
I haven't written anything in a while; I have been so busy but I made some time tonight! Oh did I forget: HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope everyone's new year would be awesome and prosperous. I have something new to share and I couldn't hold it any longer...Drumroll pleasssee :) Read On>>>>>>>>
So my sister, remember I spoke about her before (the hair fanatic) introduced me to THE NATURAL MAKEUP LOOK; using the bronzer and foundation from Iman Cosmetics: One word AWESOME! Take a look at my pictures above. The bronzer paired with the foundation is great for the naturals out there whose motto is- NEVER OVERO. I love it. I will share below a little about how I did it, I know it would be much better if you see, but I'll make it as simple as possible and maybe you can try it..

1. Before applying any sort of foundation on your face, you should moisturize your face. I use sOFT & Precious (Nursery Jelly), it really keeps my face soft and smooth, but there are other moisturizers that you can buy from any beauty store, Walgreens, CVS or Duane Reade.

2. After that I apply my foundation. My foundation is by IMAN ( Yes the supermodel)
However you have to be sure you purchase the right shade for your skin. That you can find out from any makeup station, like Mac at Macy's or Sephora. They test a shade for your skin and let you know the code. From there you can proceed to buy your foundation. It is not at all costly, it is only about $15 at CVS, and by the way IMAN is excellent for darker shade girls. You must apply foundation using finger tip and smooth it over as you go, so that it blends.

3. Hello Bronzer: People the bronzer is great! It gives you this almost tanned and glowing look. It is applied to the cheeks and blended in with a make-up sponge. It is about $8-$10, depends on what store you decide to purchase it from.

4. Apply other things such as mascara, eyeliner, lipstick ; whatever you like and be sure that you're comfortable with it all. One thing I dislike is having too much make-up on and my face feels like it weighs a ton. I like it light and natural, If you do too, this is a must try.

One MORE THING: Be sure the eyebrows are done, if not the outcome might not be what you want. We all know how the eyebrows cna get.

Don't forget to comment! If you like. Tah-Tah for now: muah! Read more...
