I recently participated in a twitter chat by New York Women in Communications. Topics about life, career and success. This particular chat on November 15th was focused on networking before graduating from college. It was very informational and I learned so much.
* One advice was forming a relationship with professors while in school.
* Create a resume of your college experiences. If you write for the school newspaper, create a
portfolio of your work. You can do this on websites such as doyoubuzz.com
*If there is a program you think your department or the school should have implemented; take the initiative in doing so.
*Very important also: At the end of every semester send a thank you note to your professor, don't just send an email. An actual note will show that you are professional and an effective communicator.
There a lot more tips: to view the transcript of the chat go here: http://twapperkeeper.com/hashtag/nywicichat?sm=11&sd=15&sy=2011&shh=07&smm=00&em=11&ed=17&ey=2011&ehh=00&emm=00&o=d&l=1000&from_user=&text=&lang=
There were also tips for the upcoming student career conference. It will be a day of networking and fun, can't wait! To check it out go here: http://www.nywici.org/events/student-career-conference
